Türkiye’s negotiations have been at a standstill since 2018 — no chapter has opened or closed, and the EU has stated no new chapters can be considered. The Commission’s 2025 report (4 Nov 2025) reiterated the standstill and recorded continued backsliding on the rule of law, fundamental rights and judicial independence. With the process frozen, a date estimate would be meaningless.
